Sharing Hope: A Day of Compassion and Connection
The epicenter was in BOGO CITY where one of the cities that we are reaching out. YWAM helped in founding one of the places there in response to the typhoon that hit the same place many years ago. It is now called HOPE VILLAGE where twenty-eight families are now residing there.
On September 30, 2025 an earthquake hit Cebu with a magnitude of 6.9 around 10:00 in the evening.
We’re filled with gratitude and deep emotion following our ministry visit yesterday.
The day was spent by Encouragement, Speaking Life, Praying for the families, listening to their struggles as the aftershocks we’re still ongoing and giving out Groceries and “Lechon Manok” for their lunch, and the experience was truly humbling. We witnessed incredible resilience in the face of hardship and were reminded, once again, that simple presence can make the most profound difference.
Our hearts were touched by the stories we heard and the courage we saw. More than achieving a goal, the success of the day lay in the depth of the human connectionβin the shared moments of prayer, the gentle conversations, and the feeling of shared burden lifted, even if just for a short time.
We also surveyed the area specially the damages the earthquake made in their houses. Most of the houses’ wall might collapse anytime specially if the aftershocks will continue. This gives the people specially for the parents fear for their children. We are currently studying on what to do to help the families rebuild their homes.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to all our dedicated Ywam Cebu Staffs and generous supporters. It is only through your compassion and commitment that we can continue to reach out and offer a hand of support and a listening ear to those who need it most.
We carry the faces and stories of those we met in our hearts today and remain committed to serving with sympathy and hope in the days ahead.
Stay tuned for photos and more detailed stories from the visit.
